Global R&D Expenditures

The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) has released its latest edition of Science, Technology and Industry Outlook. The report shows that the overall rate of growth for R&D spending among OECD members has slowed from 4.6% between 1996 to 2001, to 2.5% since 2001. However, the distribution of R&D spending is shifting, with emerging economies such as China, India, Russia and South Africa showing large increases in R&D spending.
